Terms of Service
Plain language, no legal jargon. Here is how StintBox licensing works.
Last updated: 30 August 2026
1. What You're Buying
StintBox is developed and operated by Kameli ApS, Denmark. It is two apps: the desktop editor, and the phone app you record with. Section 2 is the phone app. Sections 3, 4 and 8 are the desktop license and only concern you if you have one, and the rest applies to both. A desktop Pro plan also covers the phone app; a Mobile Pro plan covers the phone only. StintBox Pro is a season pass, not a subscription: it never auto-renews and never charges you again. You buy a block of time (or permanent access), and when it ends, you decide whether to renew. Cloud storage plans are the one exception: they are a separate, recurring subscription you can cancel at any time, billed monthly or yearly, and buying one is never required to use StintBox Pro.
| Plan | Price | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Pro Season | €99 | 6 months |
| Pro Annual | €179 | 12 months |
| Pro Perpetual | €349 | One-time (includes 12 months updates, extendable anytime) |
| Mobile Pro Season | €39 | 6 months |
| Mobile Pro Annual | €69 | 12 months |
2. The Phone App
The app you record with runs on Android, and it reaches you without a shop in between. Here is what is different about it.
- You download it from stintbox.app, and it updates itself from releases.stintbox.app. Android will warn you that the file comes from a source it does not know, because there is no store between us and you. No store reviews these builds, distributes them or answers for them: we do, and an update reaches you when we publish it. There is no iPhone version yet, so everything here means Android.
- What you record stays on the phone. The track, the sensor readings, the laps and the video are written to your own device and go no further. Cloud sync, backing up a video and going live are three separate things you switch on, and you can switch each of them off again. Choosing to send something is how you agree to it, and we read no agreement into anything you have not pressed. Two things work the other way round: anonymous usage statistics and crash reports are on by default, and you switch them off in Settings → Privacy. Section 14 says what is in them.
- That choice does not settle everything, and the gaps are worth naming. A broadcast leaves a copy with us for 30 days that you cannot switch off, because it is what we look at if someone reports it (section 11). The people who end up in the background of your video did not choose anything, and neither did the people watching your broadcast. The Privacy Policy explains how each of those is handled.
- Pro features you have not bought can be tried a set number of times, and the count sits on your phone: clearing the app data gives the runs back. That is a try-before-you-buy counter, not a lock, and we would rather say so. What you have paid for is held by our server.
- Without a paid plan there is no limit on phones: sign in on as many as you like, as often as you like. Nothing is counted, nothing is refused. With a paid plan, phones follow the same allowance as computers: one machine and one transfer means one phone and one phone transfer per 30 days, and two means two of each. Phones and computers are still counted separately, so a phone sign-in never signs you out of your computer or spends a machine transfer. Once your phone slots are full, the next phone signs the oldest one out and spends a phone transfer; when those transfers run out, the next phone is refused. Reinstalling the app or clearing its data is not a transfer: Android identifies the handset, not the installation, so the phone comes back as the same device and costs nothing. A factory reset, a different Android user profile or a new handset does count as a new phone. Signing a phone out at stintbox.app/account/security frees the slot straight away and spends no transfer. Phones you were already signed in on before this changed in August 2026 are not counted and are not signed out to make room.
3. Machines & Installations
A personal license is intended for use on one machine: your primary editing computer. We include transfers for flexibility when you upgrade hardware or switch between setups.
| Plan | Simultaneous machines | Machine transfers / month |
|---|---|---|
| Season / Annual | 1 | 1 |
| Perpetual | 2 | 2 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom |
Transfers are allocated upfront for each month of your license. If your license is extended (e.g. via referral), the additional transfers are added immediately.
Enterprise: need more machines or custom terms? Contact us at [email protected] and we'll build a plan that fits your team.
Machine ID is calculated from a hardware fingerprint hash. Single component changes (e.g. a new GPU) are adapted automatically; larger changes or a new computer require a transfer.
The transfer column is about machines. Phones are counted separately and are not in this table, but they follow the same numbers: one machine and one transfer also means one phone and one phone transfer, and two means two of each. Signing in on a phone never takes a machine slot or spends a machine transfer, and the reverse is true too. Without a paid plan, phones are not limited at all. Section 2 has the detail.
4. Internet & License Validation
StintBox validates your license each time you open the app. If you go offline, here is what happens:
| Offline duration | Behavior |
|---|---|
| 0–30 days | Works normally |
| 30–37 days | Warning banner, still fully functional |
| After 37 days | Reverts to Free mode (17 widgets, watermark, 1080p) |
Your projects on your own computer are always accessible. StintBox will never delete your project files or make them unreadable. Optional cloud copies follow the separate rules in section 7.
5. If StintBox Shuts Down or Is Sold
- Planned shutdown: a final update removes the license check entirely.
- Acquisition: the acquiring party must honor existing licenses or provide a full refund.
- Unexpected shutdown: after 37 days offline the app reverts to Free mode, which works offline indefinitely.
6. When Your License Expires
- Your projects are safe: open, view, and edit everything.
- Export reverts to Free-tier limits (1080p, watermark, 5 min).
- Cloud backups stay visible and downloadable for 365 days after your Pro period ends (see section 7).
- We will never hold your projects hostage.
7. Cloud Backup (Optional)
Cloud backup stays off until you switch it on. Your projects also live on your own computer, and nothing in this section changes that. It only covers the copies we store for you.
- While your plan is active we keep your cloud data until you delete it. There is no time limit.
- When a paid Pro period ends, uploading stops, but nothing is locked. Everything already uploaded stays visible and downloadable for another 365 days, at no cost and with no paywall in the way.
- Renewing at any point during those 365 days switches syncing back on, with your data still there.
- We warn you before anything goes: an email every week during the window, then every day for the last three days, each one naming the exact deletion date and what renewing would restore. When the 365 days are up, the cloud copies are permanently deleted. The copies on your computer are untouched.
- You can delete your cloud data yourself at any time. It stays recoverable for 30 days in case you change your mind, then it is permanently removed.
- Capacity: in rare cases we may need to remove an exceptionally large project before its 365 days are up. We will email you at least 30 days in advance so you have time to download it, and downloading stays free. We will not use this to force a purchase.
8. Perpetual Licenses
- Your Perpetual license grants you the right to use StintBox Pro indefinitely. The license does not expire, and the application will continue to work with all features received during your update period.
- 12 months of updates included with purchase.
- Extend updates at any time. There is no deadline or pressure.
- OS guarantee: we support the latest Windows + macOS for 5 years from purchase. Linux is best-effort (Ubuntu LTS). If we break compatibility, we fix it within 90 days or issue a full refund.
9. Refunds & Consumer Rights
StintBox has a generous free tier (17 widgets, all themes, all telemetry formats) so you can evaluate the software thoroughly before purchasing.
- Changing your mind: at checkout you ask us to unlock Pro immediately and confirm that you give up the 14-day withdrawal right in exchange (Article 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive). Once Pro is unlocked, the purchase is final. Business purchases carry no withdrawal right. Cloud storage plans take no waiver and keep the full 14 days. Purchases are processed by Paddle as our merchant of record, and Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to every transaction. Full detail in the Refund Policy.
- Fix-or-refund: if StintBox is genuinely broken due to a verified StintBox bug, we offer a 60-day fix-or-refund guarantee. This is added on top of the law, not instead of it, and it does not cover user hardware, OS, or driver issues.
- Statutory rights: where your local consumer protection laws give you stronger rights than this policy, those rights always apply. Nothing here removes your right to software that works.
10. Personal vs Commercial Use
- A personal license is for individuals, hobby use, and content creation. You may monetize your videos (YouTube ads, Patreon, social media).
- A commercial license is required when producing client deliverables or when your entity revenue exceeds €50,000/year. Contact [email protected] for commercial licensing.
11. Recording, Other People, and Going Live
The StintBox app records from your phone and from the devices you pair with it. These rules cover that, and the live broadcast feature.
- It is not a safety system. It warns you about nothing, its readings are not calibrated, and a lap time from StintBox is not evidence of anything. Do not operate the phone while you are moving, and do not record where recording is not allowed: a workplace, a circuit or an event can have its own rules, and ours do not override them.
- One person, one account, and you need to be at least 16 to hold one. Below that age a parent holds it. We do not verify age, so it is on you, and a payment method is not proof of age either.
- Anyone who has the link to a broadcast can watch it and pass it on, so treat the link as public. We hold the last 30 seconds back before viewers see them, up to 500 people can watch at once, and a broadcast that goes quiet for 120 seconds ends on its own.
- We keep a copy of the telemetry you broadcast for 30 days so that we can look into a report of misuse, and it keeps those 30 days even if you delete your account. The Privacy Policy says exactly what is in that copy. If an account or a broadcast is used to harm someone, we can suspend it.
12. What You Can and Cannot Do
You can
- Use StintBox for any personal or creative project
- Monetize exported videos
- Share .stint and .stintpreset files
- Post screenshots and reviews
You cannot
- Share or redistribute license keys
- Remove the watermark on Free-tier exports
- Use a personal license for commercial work
- Reverse-engineer or decompile the software
- Circumvent license validation
- Resell your license
- Use a broadcast to follow, harass or expose another person
13. Referral Program
- Sender: 30 extra days per paying referral.
- Receiver: 20% off their first purchase.
- Perpetual license owners receive 30 extra days of updates per referral.
- No cap: refer as many people as you like.
- Rewards are credited after a 14-day payment clearing period.
14. Privacy
During license validation and app use, our server receives:
- License key, machine ID hash, app version, IP address, OS (desktop)
- Anonymous aggregate usage counts (app version, OS, country) derived from auto-update requests (desktop) and launch pings (mobile); your IP address is used only for GeoIP country lookup and discarded immediately
- Authenticated device heartbeat (logged-in users only): refresh token + device ID, for device-lock enforcement
- Version heartbeat (desktop): a salted, irreversible hash of a randomly generated install ID, plus app version, release channel and platform. Kept for 90 days so we can see which versions are still in use.
- From the mobile app, only what you send us: a session bundle when cloud sync is on, a video file when you press Back up, and telemetry frames while a broadcast is running
We do not:
- Individual hardware information (MAC address, serial numbers, or any identifier derived from your hardware)
- Your recorded session data (GPS tracks, lap times, sensor readings, video files) never leaves your device unless you explicitly upload it to Cloud Storage
- Your in-app behavior: which features you use, which buttons you click, which widgets you configure
Full details in our Anonymous usage statistics can be disabled in Settings → Privacy (mobile) or Preferences → Privacy (desktop). Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to These Terms
- Existing licenses are always honored under the terms in effect at the time of purchase.
- We provide 30 days advance notice for any material changes.
- You will never lose paid features due to a change in these terms.
